Dr. Kim Whitten joined the Diffusion team in April 2007 to expand the company’s clinical development capability. Dr. Whitten holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky, BS in Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina, and BS in Education from the University of Virginia. She is a licensed Pharmacist and has over 25 years of experience in drug development, regulatory affairs and bioethics. During this time she has worked in multiple therapeutic areas involving all phases of the global drug development process. Prior to joining Diffusion Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Whitten held positions of increasing management responsibility from Clinical Monitor to VP, Clinical Development with major pharmaceutical and clinical research organizations, including ICI/AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, PPD Inc, Charlottesville Medical Research and Kendle International.
In addition to experience in regulatory strategy and IND/NDA submissions, Dr. Whitten’s regulatory expertise includes being the founder and Executive Secretary of an Institutional Review Board (IRB) for 10 years and currently serving on an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). Dr. Whitten maintains active RAC accreditation since being awarded RAPS Regulatory Affairs Certification (US) in 2006 and active licensure as a pharmacist.
