Diffusion Pharmaceuticals LLC Wins Inaugural Perfect Pitch Competition –Biotech Investment Challenge –at BioNetwork East Conference in Miami, FL

Charlottesville, VA — March 22, 2010 —Diffusion Pharmaceuticals LLC, a clinical-stage drug-development company commercializing first-in-class drugs to treat serious or life-threatening unmet medical conditions, today announced its selection as the winner of the Perfect Pitch Competition – Biotech Investment Challenge. The winner was announced during a special awards ceremony attended by over 150 delegates and guests attending the BioNetwork East conference in Miami, FL.

Given the economic climate, it is becoming increasingly difficult to shore up funding for R&D programs in the pharmaceutical sector. Having a compelling company story and innovative drug-development program is crucial to ensuring successful partnerships or investments. The BioNetwork East Conference highlighted four of the most promising drug-development programs currently underway.

BioNetwork East enlisted a distinguished, unbiased panel of experts from large pharmaceutical companies and investment firms, all of whom are responsible for evaluating drug-development programs worldwide, including: Robert Bagdorf, VP, Worldwide Business Development, Pfizer Mark Benedyk, Head, The Pfizer Incubator LLC David H. Donabedian, VP, Strategic Alliances, US CEEDD, GlaxoSmithKline Frank Stokes, Managing Director, R.W. Baird.

About Diffusion Pharmaceuticals LLC
Diffusion Pharmaceuticals LLC is a clinical-stage drug-development company commercializing a family of first-in-class drug candidates to treat serious or life-threatening medical conditions. These proprietary small molecules use a novel method of action to enhance oxygen diffusion to oxygen-deprived (hypoxic) tissue. Potential clinical applications include cancer, critical care uses such as trauma, hemorrhage, stroke, and heart attack, as well as chronic conditions such as peripheral arterial and vascular disease, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disorders. A Phase I study in healthy subjects for Diffusion’s lead molecule, trans sodium crocetinate (TSC), was successfully completed in 2007. The company has recently completed enrollment in a Phase I/II dose-range-finding, safety and efficacy study of TSC in peripheral arterial disease patients suffering from intermittent claudication. This study is designated NCT00725881 on the clinicaltrials.gov Website. Diffusion Pharmaceuticals, which is privately held, is located in Charlottesville, Virginia.
